Nicholas S. Whitelaw received a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering in 1988 from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, during which time he took a co-op assignment in 1987 at Allied Automotive, Bendix Friction Materials Division. Mr. Whitelaw became a Patent Examiner in the United States Patent Office in 1988 and remained in that position until taking a law clerk position at a Washington, D.C. area law firm in 1992. Mr. Whitelaw joined The Law Office of Everett G. Diederiks, Jr., now Diederiks & Whitelaw, PLC, in 1996 where he has established himself as an important source of technical and legal expertise, while concentrating on conducting patentability, infringement and validity searches and preparing U.S. based patent applications.
